Inspirations From The Mountains

December 21, 2009

Even though the new year begins in the middle of winter I look forward to it. Why? Because it gives me a brand new start—a chance to begin again. There have been many successes but I know I can do better with God’s help if I do my part. So I like to take the soiled pages that are filled with my struggles, mistakes and failures of the past year and lay them at the Master’s feet. Then I pray the prayer of King David in Psalm 51:10-13. (KJV)

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from Your presence, and take not Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your free Spirit. Then will I teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners will be converted unto Thee.”

Yes, I have failed miserably in some areas. But then I think of David and the circumstances that prompted his outcry. God call David a “man after His own heart!” But how could that be? David was guilty of lust, adultery, deception and murder. Then he had to suffer the consequences of his sins—the death of his son. But David had a repentant heart, and therein laid his strength. Psalm 51:17 tells us that “A broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise”. Psalm 102:17 says, “He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer”.

So Beloved, for an incredible new beginning, start by reading Psalm 51, and make it your prayer for 2010. Then put verse 13 into practice and your New Year will be all you could ever wish for.
