The Magic Bullet February 1, 2010   When Emory was in the Marines, every soldier cleaned his rifle every day and reloaded it. One of the first things they did every morning was polish every inch of their weapon and make sure it had ammunition. Then an officer would inspect them thoroughly. If they found the slightest bit of dirt or grime, or if the rifle wasn’t loaded, serious discipline would follow. Does that sound harsh? No, because they were in warfare and a dirty gun might misfire, and an unloaded one could mean the difference between victory or defeat.   God’s people are in constant warfare with the enemy of our souls. Our adversary will do anything he can to destroy us. But it’s not just a physical battle. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing into captivity every thought unto the obedience of Christ! (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)

The war is mostly in our minds, but our weapon is the Holy Spirit anointed Word of God. For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword. (Hebrews 4:12) However, the Word will not help us much if it is laying somewhere out of reach when Satan attacks. It must be planted in our minds, and when it is, we have the most powerful weapon on earth. Memorized scripture from God’s Holy Word, are the bullets that cause Satan to run for cover. Why? Because memorizing and quoting the scriptures keeps us connected to God, keeps us clean, and gives us victory.

Your Word have I hidden in my heart that I might not sin against You (Psalm 119:11) If you abide in My, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.(John 15:7)

Every time I memorize another scripture I am building my arsenal of defense against the enemy. And there are verses in the Bible to address every need we have.

So Beloved, if you’ve not already done so, pull out your weapon today and start making bullets. It could be the difference between life and death. --Rebecca Somoskey
