The Forgotten Weapon
Many years ago we used to sing a little song in Children’s Church about being in God’s Army. “I may never march in the infantry, ride in the cavalry, and shoot the artillery. I may never fly o’er the enemy, but I’m in the Lord’s Army.”
I never did march, ride, shoot, or fly, but I became a member of the Lord’s army. It happened the day I surrendered my life to Jesus and He clothed me with a complete armor. To protect my head he gave me a HELMET of salvation. Then he covered my front with a GIRDLE marked truth and a BREASTPLATE labeled righteousness. For my feet He gave me the SHOES OF THE GOSPEL of peace, and a SHIELD called faith. All these were to protect me from my enemy—the devil and all his demons.
But that wasn’t all God did. Last, but so much more important, He handed me the SWORD OF THE SPIRIT, WHICH IS GOD’S WORD—THE BIBLE. And it is the only offensive weapon I have.
Could it be is that so many believers have decided they are just too busy, or the sword is just too heavy to carry, so they’ve laid it down? Sure we are all soldiers in His army, and are protected, but we can’t help the lost souls who are headed for a burning hell if we never read, study and memorize God’s Word.
Dear Reader, Do you know where your sword is? Is it collecting dust on the shelf somewhere? Is it lying, untouched on the coffee table to impress others? When was the last time you went after the devil on behalf of a lost soul? Could that be one of the reasons America is backslidden and in such turmoil? Must we lose our great Nation because God’s people are too lazy or too busy to pick up their swords and join the fight?
Ephesians 6:10-12(NKJV) ----“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
Beloved, whatever else you do in the Kingdom, don’t forget to go into the battle a single day without your sword. You will be so glad you did.
