Sometimes I’m almost paralyzed with fear when I see the condition of our society. I think, “Surely it will explode into chaos just any time!”
Folks we used to trust completely have become hard-hearted, greedy, grasping and deceitful. Families and homes are becoming shattered and dysfunctional. Even many of our churches are quarrelling, and have become so worldly we can’t tell them from the rest of society. Our governing leaders have become an embarrassment and a laughing stock to the world. So many of our schools, colleges and universities are failing miserably at providing a decent education for the next generation, and the media is awash with bias, filth and lies.  Thousands are unemployed with little hope of getting a job. WE ARE IN A MAJOR CRISIS!

Then the Holy Spirit reminds me.   Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. Psalm 33:12.  Hasn’t our great nation been through crisis before? THE GREAT DEPRESSION, TWO WORLD WARS, THE KOREAN CONFLICT, VIETNAM, AND 911, JUST TO NAME A FEW? So how did we survive?

We survived because the praying people of America remembered God’s promises, clung to them with all their might and refused to let go. Hasn’t God promised: When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. (Isaiah 59:19b) Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. For evil doers shall be cut off, but those who wait on the Lord, they shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more; indeed, you will look carefully for his place but it shall be no more. (Psalm 37:7, 9-10)  I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a native green tree, yet he passed away, and behold he was no more; indeed I sought him, but he could not be found. (Psalm 37:35-36)

So, are we still a Christian nation? You bet!  All we need to do is lay hold of His promises, take a stand, keep a prayer on our lips, and refuse to give in to our fears. Psalm 34:7The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him and delivers them.
