We could debate all day about the separation of church and state, and still not make any sense of it, or make any sense of the consequences we are reaping since prayer has been taken out of our public schools. But we have hammered on that closed door long enough. Now let’s consider the problem from a new angle, an angle that seems to have been overlooked far too long by the Christian community.

We can put prayer back in our schools, prayer that is unstoppable by any or all of Satan’s hoards. Here’s how. First, let’s consider our prayer lives at home. We have no quarrel with God, the government or school administrators about praying in school if we do not pray at home. How is our prayer life? Do we pray with and for our children every day? If we do not, then why expect the school officials and teachers to do what we aren’t willing to do? 

Second, are we teaching our children to pray? Have we taught them from the preschool years until they graduate that God is very much interested in every part of our lives and He wants us to discuss them with Him every day, every where, every time, even in the classroom? Have we assured them that they do       not have to pray long and loud? Even a whispered or thought prayer gets His attention. A simple cry for help is sufficient for God to dispatch all heaven’s hosts to the rescue of these little ones. Do our children see us living out these principles in our own affairs? 

Third, do we bathe our schools in prayer, a prayer that encompasses every boundary, every nook and every cranny on our campuses? Do we pray for, or do we complain about school teachers, officials, bus drivers, janitors, food servers, aides and the other students in our schools? 

There are no boundaries in prayer, for they are like arrows that can pierce even the thickest wall. James 5:16 "The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." (NIV) No one, not even the ACLU, Washington, or anyone else can keep prayer out of our schools if we will follow the three steps above. "No weapon formed against you shall prosper.....this is the heritage of the servants of the Lord." Isaiah 54:17 (NKJV)
