Inspiration from the Mountains - Server to SaveWe are all familiar with the expression that Christians are “saved to serve”, and that is true. But today, on this Memorial Day I would like to turn that expression around and consider it from the opposite end.

Please consider this bit of information folks are sharing on Face Book:  “A Veteran is someone, who at one point in their life, wrote a blank check payable to the United States of America for an amount up to, and including, their life. That is an honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer remember that fact.” Their lives are no longer their own. So why do they do it? To protect and save us and our great nation from those who would like to destroy us. Our troops are “serving to save”, and many have paid the ultimate sacrifice. So we honor them now.

But there’s more. Now consider this. Did not Jesus do that very thing?  In Mark 10:35 He tells us, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” And we are to do the same. Mark 10: 43-44: Whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20: “You are not your own. For you were bought at a price.”

A true Servant of God is someone, who at one point in their lives, wrote a blank check payable to the Lord Jesus Christ for an amount up to, and including  their lives. Why? Because they want to help save all those who are destined for eternity in hell. They “serve to save”.

Beloved, have you made that commitment yet? If you  haven’t, please consider it today. I made that commitment long ago and I can testify that it is the only way to real peace and happiness. And when I die I want folks to say this about me. “She served to save.”
