HOW'S YOUR SHINE? PDF E-mail

When I was a child I was terrified of the dark, and I still don't like it. Why? Because I fear the dangers I can not see, like boogers and predators and things that could make me stumble and hurt myself. That's why I love a full moon. I have been blessed to enjoy close to a thousand full moons in my lifetime, and I never tire of it. Most of you will agree with me.

So, why are we drawn to the light of the full moon? It penetrates the darkness, illuminates and brings comfort, shows us which way to go, and serves as a sign that God is on His throne and the cycles He has ordained are operating properly. But moonlight is not as effective when it is covered with clouds, or is only in it's half, quarter, or three-quarter stage. It must be full to give the best benefit.

Jesus said we are the light of the world. All creatures are drawn to the light unless they are nocturnal or creatures of evil. Most nocturnal creatures are predators. And Jesus said that men loved darkness because their deeds were evil. John 3:19 So our lives should shine at all times to bring comfort to the lost and hurting, Our shine can show others the right way to go, and to reassure them that God is on His throne and all He has ordained is operating properly. But half, quarter or three-quarter will not do. We must stay full. We must stay conspicuous. Just as the light of the moon is the reflection of the sun, so our light will be the reflection of the Son. The more I let Jesus, the Son, shine on me, the brighter I will shine.

Lord, make me a full moon. Don't let me stay hidden under the bushel of selfishness or hide myself behind the clouds of sin. Lost and frightened souls need my shine. So how's your shine? Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:17
